5 YEARS OLD and 5 MONTHS OLD

Since Ethan and Lydia were both born on the 16th of the month, we had a special thing occur this month. Ethan turned 5 years old and Lydia turned 5 months old on the same day! For some reason it was hard this time to catch a smile for our photo shoot. (Could be I was trying to take the photos BEFORE she ate? She's always happier after eating!) Anyway, our "little" girl is really growing and changing. She's now going from 6 something at night until 6 something in the morning without eating. She's rolling all over. AND I don't think it will be long before she's sitting unsupported OR heaven forbid it already scooting around! Ethan is also becoming quite the "big" boy. It's amazing how much he has matured recently. He's coming out of his shell and is showing quite a personality to others! He had a great time celebrating turning a whole hand of years old. He asked Papa to make his hat bigger because when he turned 5 his head would be bigger. (He had to have the hat readjusted, but was still happy to be 5!) He's also doing so many things these days. I love seeing the beginning of reading skills develop. His imagination is so much fun. Oh the car races he has and the baseball games he plays! He's also fallen in love with maps, especially the United States. Coloring in a map page is his idea of a good time. We have dozens of them floating around the house. His favorite book is the Scrambled States of America. In fact, he asked for 5 things for his birthday, and a SECOND copy of the book was on his list. I'm not sure why a SECOND copy, but I was very happy to find The Scrambled States Talent Show for a steal one day at Marden's. Ethan has the book practically memorized! It was a great birthday. We celebrated together on his birthday with sausage and biscuits for breakfast, an afternoon in the pool, and special cupcakes for dessert. The next day we had a party with the family, which included a racing cake. Ethan was very excited when he first saw the cake, but when I used his cars and he couldn't play with them he wasn't as happy. Oh well!
