Birthday Celebration

It's hard to believe that Ethan turns three on Wednesday. Because Todd is working that day, we celebrated on Sunday. It was good to have friends join us in the celebration, and we missed some that were away this weekend. Of course, we wish we could have seen family, but we'll have to settle for having already seen some of them a few weeks ago, and seeing some others in the next few weeks!



After eating some yummy picnic foods we took Ethan to see his new room. He'd already seen some furniture in different places and knew the walls were different colors, but he hadn't seen the room all decorated and finished. When he walked in he almost wasn't too sure. I'm not sure of the bounce he had in his step was because he wasn't sure what to make of things or if he was really happy. He kept looking everywhere. He was quite excited when he saw presents waiting for him. Not too shy then!

So here's a look at Ethan's new room.









A car from Mimi and Papa quickly took Ethan's attention from all else. He climbed in and proceeded to learn how to drive. Didn't do too bad for a new guy! He then wanted to open his presents from the car!




It was so cute to hear his comments when he'd open something. Wow and Cool were a few, but it doesn't sound as exciting as he made them out to be! He loved everything....I think he's gone around since opening things and told me so. Last night while reading some new books he wanted them all read again because he loved them. Today he was playing with his new drumsticks, which he loves. He loves his soccer ball and football, his car, and well, just about everything!





Of course you can't have a birthday without cake. So we ended the time together with cake and ice cream. Ethan had requested a blue dump truck made with chocolate cake. For several days he kept talking about it. On Saturday morning he helped me bake the cake. It was all I could do to keep him away from the cake. I was pretty excited about the finished product!







Since we believe in stretching out birthday celebrations, we'll still do something fun on his birthday. He'll spend some time with a friend of his from church and if the weather is good we'll take a trip to the park. I'm sure Mommy may have one little present tucked away, too!
