Our new addition....

No, the baby has not come early, but we do have a new addition to the family.

And no, it's not a dog, which Ethan thought might also be in mommy's tummy.

And no, it's not a kitten from Pap's farm.

So, what is it?

A tandem kayak!

As most of you know, we love to go kayaking. The first year we had kayaks, we kayaked the end of October and April when the ice was barely melted. We kayaked when I was pregnant with Ethan, about 16 days before he was born to be exact. Ethan took his first trip when he was less than a year old.

Up until now Ethan's always sat in front of Mommy in her kayak. If you've kayaked before, you know this means having to do some fun stretching when you paddle. With my bigger belly, it's even more fun.

Todd and I were out the other day together (a perk to having Ethan in preschool) and we talked some more about our plant to get a tandem kayak. We knew something would have to happen next year if we all wanted to go out together and be happy. So we made some plans to check out a place we can get them at a somewhat discounted price.

BUT on the way home, what should we see, but a tandem kayak for sale along the road. Somehow we'd missed seeing it on the way out. We checked it out and liked what we saw. That evening we took Ethan to get "his" kayak. (Ethan wasn't too thrilled about the idea of sitting in his own place a few feet from Mommy until we called it "his" kayak.)

And a few days later we tried her out. We still need to get a paddle for Ethan, but he was a trooper. It was so much fun seeing my little guy in his own place.

(note: Of course, we forgot the camera and only took a picture at the end of the trip when he was tired and it was starting to rain. Really, he does like it. Honest!)
