Ethan goes to the fair.

Sorry the blog has been quiet for a while. You can always tell when life gets a little busier for us, can't you? Well, we'll catch you up on a bunch of posts this week!

Last weekend we had a visit from Pap and Nanny. YIPEE!!! It was great to have them here with us. It was a quick visit, so we had to load work, play and food all into just a few short days. Speaking of food, Ethan has a new favorite dessert, and you can tell he's got relatives from Pennsylvania thanks to this one...SHOOFLY PIE. What kid outside of Lancaster County has shoofly pie as a favorite pie?

We travled to Fryeburg to go to the fair. Yes, I know like there aren't fairs in Pennsylvania, but it was a nice day to take a trip and fun to be together as a family. Ethan was excited about going to see the animals. The first place we stopped was the kid's petting barn. Ethan happily fed the goats (as long as Mommy was there).

He also liked the calf. Okay...so Mommy is the one who really liked the calf, but he was eager to pet it.

When we stopped for lunch he watched some of the little kid rides and thought they looked like great fun. Many times that after we heard, "I want to ride the train. Go ride the train." So eventually after seeing rabbits, cows, horses, llamas and canning goods and crafts, we headed to THE TRAIN.

I bet you can already guess how this one goes. Ethan gets on the train. Things are goood. He's a little sad that he can't ride in the engine, but hey, the caboose will do. Things are good.
Someone else gets in the caboose with him. Things are good.

A lady comes to strap in people in the engine. Things are good.
She straps in people in the middle car. Things are good.
She asks Ethan to lift his arms so he can get strapped in. UH-Oh. NOT GOOD! MOMMY!!!!!
Mommy helps strap him in, but the tears have started.

So, the happy little engine ride turns into the not so happy-I'm-crying-for-my-mommy ride.

Yup...I knew you saw that coming!

We still had a good time. Funnel Cake is a good cure for tears caused by fears of being strapped into choo-choo-trains. And we were sad to see Pap and Nanny drive home.

Thankfully there are future visits to look forward to!
